I liked each of the formentioned games for different reasons.
I lost days of my life playing fallout 1/2, diablo1/2, and bauldar's gate
1/2... Too many hours... But each had its own draw. The hack and slash and
easy death for diablo was great for releasing a lot of tension. If I wanted
an even mix I could play fallout, of if I wanted a great story and good
quests I could play BG.

Course I love a lot of different styles of games.

But old school my favorites are still bards tale, ultima, and Alternate
reality.

Dave,

Yes, Diablo is definitely hack and slash oriented. I was just very
impressed with Baldur's Gate since it first came out and it honestly has
been the only great RPG that i've honestly played and enjoyed(even
completed) since Betrayal at Krondor and Bard's Tale. It was just so good I
couldn't let it be glazed over so simply :) No offense meant.
