First of all, thanks for looking for the Philip Price post. The one quoted
was also the only one I found, so that will be included in the next FAQ
update.
And speaking of the next FAQ version, I'm thinking of including the
following little review in the "similar games to AR" section... but I feel I
need a second opinion before I put it in, and since everyone seem in a
talkative mood right now, I'l like to hear what you have to say (about both
the game and review):
"GOTHIC
Now what is a 3rd person game doing in this section, you might ask? Well, I
might be
stretching things, but during the turn of the millenium, when this game was
released, the
CRPG genre was dominated by top-down perspective games, so not only did this
game bring
you (literally) more down to earth, it also managed to create a sense of AR
de-ja vu that
eclipses most games mentioned here! The game starts out by imprisoning you
in a hostile
world, just like AR does. You are then left to your own to explore and do
whatever you like,
just like AR. You actions also determine if you are good or evil, again just
like AR. The
game isn't totally open ended, though (even if you could play it like that),
and all of the
characters in the game are rather simple (though cleverly convincing at
first). And even
though the combat in the game is an utter drudge (it's down to YOUR skill,
not your
character's), I dare to say that if you won't try any other game in this
section, at least
try this one."

Ps. no, no 16-bit info this time either... I'm not done with the 8-bit yet.
