Subject: The Matrix

hehe.. we went to the midnight show last night.. and it was really cool.. at
the end, neo slays a dragon although it taints his soul, and then everyone
in zion has loads and loads of money. Then he digs a bit deeper into zion,
aliens start shooting at him with laserbeams, but he manages to survive with
a mirrored trenchcoat and gets a passcard. Total AR rip-off! ;-)

Actually the show is REALLY weird. I'd be interested in other people's
opinions.. No specific spoilers here, btw... but IMHO the first Matrix was
very definately a complete story, but also obviously was part of a whole..
the new movie is by no means a complete story in itself.. So I will
personally need to wait for Revolutions to pass judgement on this one... but
I don't expect I will be let down. This one felt a lot more philosophical
than actiony. I am tempted to categorize it with Tron, whereas I would have
categorized the first one with the Terminator. This one is more
philosophical.. or as my significant other phrased it.. "a total mindfuck."

Most middle stories are like this, so it's not really surprising.. The first
is always an introduction to things.. The third (in a trilogy) is always the
resolution.. The middle stories are basically the characters just fumbling
around and figuring some small things out, but not actually doing anything
significant... (paraphrasing the author Tad Williams).. and I think that is
an accurate description. I expect I will watch Reloaded at least once more
in theaters to see if it makes more sense the 2nd time through, but I really
think we'll be waiting til the finale for most of the answers.

Also as I understand it.. the game goes parallel to the movie.. so you can
play the game or watch the movie, it really shouldn't matter.. I do think
it's important to watch "Final Flight of the Osiris" from the Animatrix
before doing either. Of course the Animatrix isn't actually out until next
month, but 4 of the shorts are downloadable on www.intotheanimatrix.com, and
FFotO was shown with Dreamcatcher in theaters.. (maybe it still is...)

"French.. it's like whiping your ass with silk." :-D
