I don't know how many of you are familiar with Fark.com, it's kind of a E/N site, but with a little more relevance than usual.  They also hold photoshop contests a few times a week, and today's is "Photoshop what life would be like in an alternate reality".  I haven't looked at the submissions yet so I don't know if anyone as made a direct reference yet, but the source Google image search has a bunch of AR images.  If anyone wants to check it out, it's at www.fark.com and as of now it's at the top of the page, but will be moving down as more links are posted.
