Dan,

It has been over a year since I messed around with it, but my recollections
were captured in the following post:

It sort of answers your question (gives you a few guilds to try out), and,
as I mentioned, the information on the "Amiga Help Site" is a bit
erroneous. Subsequent experimentation does seem to suggest that the more
spells you learn the longer it takes to learn new spells. The rumor is
that you eventually forget spells, but I have not been able to confirm
this. I have not played in awhile, but I did recently try to hack the
character disks for the Amiga version, so that I could try to discover what
the secret spells were for the guilds in the hidden area. The file is
rather tamper-proof.
