All I have to say is that I'd be willing to pay for this game all over
again. Has anyone considered approaching Peroxide about this
(www.peroxide.dk)? They're doing a remake of Ultima, though because of
a licensing problem has ultimately (no pun intended) had its name
changed to Era from Ultima. They originally intended to release the
product as freeware, but are considering a commercial product.
Anyway, if nothing else we're doing makes it, we can suggest it to them.
They seem to have a pretty big team of developers and seem to have an
excellent sense of nostalgia for the older games.
Big question for you guys...how much time would it take (in hours) to
either write a pure AR emulator or to re-write the better versions (i.e.
Atari) of AR to be more graphically modern and compatible with a modern
and common OS? 2000? 500? I saw someone say that usually one person
does most of the work...would adding people to the project make it
easier or harder? What kind of funding would be required to get a team
together to make this work?
Does anyone know if Phil's brought this to other game companies? I know
some people at Blizzard...*hint* *hint*
I've been thinking about what ways I could help these projects, and this
is all I could come up with. One way could end up with a freeware
version, one way could end up with Phil and Robert getting some nice
licensing money, and one way could end up with the formation of a new
game company...
Flame away...
