I might be referring to roleplaying in a more 'purist' sense than you.
In SWG, I see the faction updates and the like, but I very rarely get to
say...bargain with a shopkeeper, strategize to have an *effective*
overthrowing of a government, or argue with people over philosophical
differences. :)

As for whether my actions effect me...in SWG it's less so than in
EverQuest, but it is there...I guess. AR had it much better, though
there was less of the above type of roleplaying.
