You are not totally alone. although I did not think the sequels lived up to
the original, I don't think anything could have. The first movie was so
monumentally different than everything else out there that as soon as
everyone started ripping it off, I think they took away from the power the
2nd and 3rd could have had. If they had *all* come out in a shorter period,
I think they would have been better recieved... but now, everyone has caught
up with the first movie, so the 2nd and 3rd were only 'average'.

I do have to give the writers credit for at least finishing the story
properly, while still remaining true to the original. There were no
significant glitches like there are in some movies (army of darkness) where
something that happened in the first movie is changed to fit more into the
2nd movie's storyline. And also for not betraying the true nature of the
story in favor of a happy or more commercial ending.

So.. while I probably won't run right to the store to buy Revolutions the
day it comes out on DVD.. I do expect I will be keeping tabs on the
Wachowski's to see what they do next.
