Thanks for the imdb link, btw.

Ehm... I only read the original manuscripts of the first movie, when he
didn't plan a trilogy... I always thought any Star Wars books was just
merchandising after the movies had been done... and doing a quick Google, it
shows that is is:

Alan Dean Foster: I was asked to, by Lucasfilm and the publisher, Del Rey.

Phew, I thought I was going to have to chase after books now, but
apparently, I can happily ignore them. But ok, so Lucas let other people
write the final manuscripts of the 2nd and 3rd movie, but he wrote the 1st
one himself at least.

Now... where does Alternate Reality come into all this? :)
