I'm very, very slowly working on a GBA version. I've mostly been
playing with the raycasting code, which is already fancier than The
Dungeon's so I should probably stop and start working on the
environmental effects. I'll be using LUA to control the game logic,
which I'm hoping will easily let me include custom code into items and
attacks in much the way the original did. Somebody has figured out how
to store games on a cheap memory card designed for backing up save
games, so if I ever get anything worth playing it might be possible to
get to people who don't have expensive flash cards.
I haven't played through a computer RPG since Dungeon Siege, which was
an impressive engine technically, but utterly mindless. If anybody has
a PS2 I can't recommend Ico enough - I thought it was the most polished
console game in years and it should be dirt cheap by now.
