Hi all,
One small thing I would add to the joystick debate is that there was an
overlooked item in AR:City for the Atari. You could not leave banks
without pressing the joystick in the down direction. Other than that you
could perform all movement with the keyboard instead. I'm unsure if things
were the same way on the C64 or AppleII. Certainly the Amiga and ST
versions did not require a joystick at all and all versioins of the Dungeon
so far as I know did not require joystick input.
Additionally most emulators will allow you to map joystick commands to your
PC keyboard, commonly the numberpad or the arrow keys can double as an
emulated joystick.
The above is a really long answer saying "no, you don't need a joystick to
emulate AR" ;)
