well i expect the people in ffxi are probably a little biased.. but i know i
also am turned off to WoW for a couple reasons in order of how bad i think
they are...
1 - realtime day/night... if they have any quests that can only be done at
night or during the day, this will be a major pain in the arse.
2 - more exp for people who play less often. a good idea conceptually so
that everyone's relatively equal but will not fly well i don't think with
diehards, and those are the ones who will make or break the game.
3 - exclusive ingame pet with the collector's edition. it DEEPLY offends me
that people can buy, with real money, a different in-game experience. this
to me is likened to me being able to buy the ability to cheat. i quit
playing Magic (the card game, not computer game) for this very reason... i
could go spend 50 bucks on a special card that would kick everyone's ass,
but then the game isn't fun any more, i just bought my way to victory. so
if the ingame pet gives you ANY advantages then this is just a cheap
exploitation of people on blizzard's part.
4 - vivendi universal. any company that supports the DMCA is not one i want
to be giving my money to. (did i hear about that on this list?)
