Subject: Player ages and Country
Author: Rhodenator <AR--ZoomEmail.com>

BTW, I discovered that I starting playing when I was 7 - 8 years old, back
when the game came out (about 2 - 3 months later) in 86. I could have
started in 87...

It's funny now that I look at how young I was...WOW, that feels like a long
time ago :P

I think you guys that dislike WoW should share your Beta account with us to
test :) I'd love to try it out...

Unlike the majority of you folks (I'm assuming), I loved AR, but
there are other games out there. I'm not looking for another AR, I'm looking
for a game that just sux me in and makes my wife Divorce me :) lol Not
really but I do want some game that really captivates me. I looked at EQ
when it first came out (5 years ago?) and I wasn't impressed. I gave it 5
years and am trying it again. The graphics are pretty cool, especially for
it's age. EQ2 looks like a brillient piece of eye candy as well, but I want
a game I get soaked up in. I felt like EQ was missing something, maybe it
was no story-type line...but I'm not into going ALL over a map, back and
forth for quest, items and such as much as making my character better. I
like to fight harder and hard mobs / creeps that take me deeper and deeper
towards some dark "force" or side that I must attempt to eliminate. I played
MajorMUD (MM) and Rights of Passage (ROP) among some other Text RPG's, and I
LOVED THOSE GAMES TO DEATH! I actually liked MM and ROP better then AR
personally. I just wish someone could take whatever it was I liked about MM
and ROP and put them together. I think it's somewhat like a book compared to
movies for most.

I think the book uses YOUR imagination, so it will almost ALWAYS
overcome the Hollywood look -n- feel. I don't think there will ever be an
RPG that captures my attention and desire to play as much as text bases
RPG's, but then again... I just hope that either WoW or EQ2 are worth me
playing.

Back to another partial topic: FABLE: I rented Fable last week and
wasn't really impressed. It could be fun, but I'm not a hack-n-slach or
Action-RPG kind-of-guy. I'm more of do the work for me and I'll tell you
what Attack spells to cast and what weapons to use. Summoner (though it
wasn't an Action-RPG) is the only Action-type RPG I liked...and it took me
forcing myself to finish it because it just wasn't good enough for me...

and then back to another topic, WoW and things like the Collector's
Edition including a Pet: I think that the pet may make some sort of
Advantage at the beginning, but it's probably a level 1 pet or something of
the likes (at least I hope). I agree that physical, real money should NOT
give a player an advantage. Might as well let rich kids (no offense to
anybody wealthy here) beat the game for us and take all of our fun away. I
don't have, nor want to give money out just for things like that. I'll
admit, when I saw that the pet was going to be included I decided I'd HAVE
to buy the collector's edition, there's no way I'd start a game without it
(my pet).

To tell you the truth (I think I've been reading my Bible too much
:P), I believe that EQ2 and WoW both have great ideas in them, but they both
have drawbacks as well. I suppose it's a different crowd that each is based
after, but they both should be good none-the-less. I know that the reason I
liked ROP, was because there was a good and evil side, take your pick. You
could fight near your side, or wonder out further for better creeps and
items, at a chance of being attacked solo or raided. This made the game more
interesting, because it wasn't just let's get a party out and go fight some
creeps that won't attack unless we attack them (or something of the likes),
it's also what the freak do we do after barely killing a mob and some
opposite sided character or raid party comes up and starts killing. To make
things even more interesting, you'd lose your items, unless a friend picked
your items up (looted you) and was able to escape with it (or you just had
cheap stuff so the opposing side left it on your corpse). The problem I saw
with EQ2 was whiners (or I've heard about). There was no real reason to PvP
unless you were a cock (bored) or you thought someone stole something of
yours or what not. So Admins would ban you or kick you out temp. or what
not. I think that WoW's direction, being that it's fair game to kill kill
kill the other "side" is GREAT. I WANT to know I am at risk of being
attacked, dying AND losing my EQ). That makes me play differently... I'm not
worried about an NPC killing me.. I know that Star Wars Galaxies is
supposedly like this...but I'm more Old Skewl RPG then Light Sabers and all
that other stuff.

PS: Forgive me if I'm incorrect in what I say about anything above. I
haven't read about the latest updates / changes to EQ2 in a while and I want
to say that you can pick a good and evil side, but I don't think they are
meant to be played against each other like I know WoW is setup. If it is
setup for PvP (Which is not what I've read), then perhaps EQ2 will be better
then I think. Once again, they are both great games!

PSS: I thank anyone that had the patience to read this whole, long, boring
blah blah blah speech of mine :)

THANKS!

Uh, do I have to admit that I was on Lower lights?? :O I went on lower
lights, harrased people, got banned, opened a new account. Light Keeper kept

letting me back in, go figure. ;-)

I am on the closed beta for Wow, and have not been all that impressed. I
liked Dark Age of Camelot, but they are all missing the "AR" alignment.
