They seem to be building on the MM6-9 type of more realistic graphics,
and not the classic, over the top and very colorful graphics of former
Alternate Reality: The Dungeon artist Bonita Long-Hemsath, who was the
lead artist on the MM2-5 games.

Guess which type of graphics I prefer? :)
