Crushridge, level 58 dorf hunter (marksman)

Did someone say Dark ages (as in Daoc? I would slit my wrists before
returning to that hack fest)

In which server do you play? My shaman 52 is still "the" original char,
I play in
Mithaniel Marr.

Its definately more quest oriented. You can just sit around and grind
exp on mobs all day if you want, but you get better rewards and
experience from completing quests (including "heritage" items like
Dwarven Work Boots, J-boots, or Ghoulbane).
I haven't done much raiding yet, so I can't really comment on that.
I did try WoW (during the beta) and I personally wasn't impressed,
tho I'll be the first to admit I'm probably pretty biased since I've
played EQ1 since its beta and my original character is still around.

I have played EQ since many years but never worried about char
advance and
whatever. I have a shaman level 52 but I start to find the game
pretty monotonous.
How it's EQ2? Is it better? Can you compare it? Gameplay,
atmosphere, char
advancement, social play, guilds, online events, etc.
I am thinking to migrate from EQ to EQ2, but I must know if its
worth.

I currently play EQ2 (ok...no comments from the peanut gallery =) ).
Personally I enjoy the game...then again I'm the guild leader of a
pretty large guild. We're not raiding or anything yet, just exploring
and finishing quests.
Yes, there is armour and weapon breakage, but you only lose
durability if you die and you can repair it back to new at a small
cost. Its more of a money sink, but one that can be avoided with
smart play.
Any other questions about EQ2 I can answer......
